Moorings

There are 150 moorings provided and maintained by Mayo County Council at the Quay.

These are managed by the Moy Estuary Sea Trout Angling and Boat Club on behalf of the county council.

Applications for a mooring must be submitted using the on-line form below.  Moorings may only be used for a period of 8 months from 1st April to 30th November each year.

NOTE: The club Safety Boats will be on the water from 1st April to the second last Sunday in October.

The Club convenes a Moorings Sub-Committee which reviews all applications regularly.

Annual Mooring Registration

Normally an annual Mooring Registration evening is held in the latter half of February.  All mooring holders must register at this meeting.

Due to Covid 19 Restrictions currently in force all registrations MUST be done on-line using our secure registration system.

Fees: Private Mooring €40.00 per season, Commercial Mooring €135.00 per season.

Mooring Zones

The moorings are divided into 3 Zones

Zone 1 – Above “The Flags”, between The Icehouse and The Quay

Zone 2 – Along The Quay

Zone 3 – Below The Quay

All moorings are affected by the changing dept of water due to shifting silt deposits and of course the tide.  There are a limited number of “deep water moorings” and users must exercise caution when going to and from moorings especially during low water.
