Safety Boat

SAFETY BOATS

The club safety boats are provided for use by members only for getting to and from your boat.

Engine Use

DO NOT STOP OR START THE ENGINE WHEN IN GEAR – PUT INTO NEUTRAL FIRST

Each petrol tank and engine is checked in the early morning to ensure they are ready for your use.

To Start: Place in Neutral, open choke, pump bulb 3 times, advance throttle to starting position (align 2 yellow dots), pull cord to start, reduce throttle, close choke.

To Stop: Place in Neutral, press red button.

Please do not remove any of the above from the boat, but please do bring your rubbish away.

Simple Rules

  • ALWAYS WEAR A LIFE JACKET
  • DO NOT JUMP INTO THE BOATS – DAMAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN CAUSED DOING THIS
  • Only paid up members may use the Safety Boats
  • Do not use above the flags at low water
  • Do not use for towing at any time
  • Watch for others waiting on the quay or boats
  • Leave clean after use
  • Please respect the boats and equipment
  • Report any issues to the club text line 087 338 7718 or call a committee member
  • The Safety Boats may be used for short work periods by one person i.e. Changing batteries, ignition/fuel check etc
  • For longer work periods two persons should use safety boat, where, the second person can return the safety boat to the Quay until the work is complete

Equipment

Each of the safety boats is equipped with the following to ensure the safety of users and protection from damage.

  • 2 Oars, 2 fixed rowlocks, oar mounting clips
  • Chain and large carbine hook for use at the Quay
  • Towing line
  • Anchor
  • Bailer – Please leave this in the boat
  • 4 HP Yamaha
  • 7 Fenders
